Changes for New Years - Leave me a message
After making work revisit my idea for rotating my schedule with the other girl I work with, I finally convinced them it was a good idea. Before I arrived there was one person (my lovely Elizabeth) who had to do all the work. Now that we have 2 people doing similar jobs (although I could NEVER do her job or would want to), we have two people to cover more hours in the day which means, we could each afford time before and after open hours of operation to have quiet time to actually make some uninterupted calls, pull charts, fax and mail copies of records, etc... Seems logical dont it?
So to keep things fair so one person isnt getting the crap shift, we are going to start Monday alternating on a weekly basis. Beginning January 2nd, Ill work that week from 7am to 4pm and Elizabeth will do the 9am to 6pm shift. The week after we will swicth and so on and so forth. This is much better than the way we've been doing it and both working MWF 9-6 and TuTh 7-4. My body couldnt decide in two months what it wanted to do for sleep so it shut down most nights at 10pm. Hopefully this change will help.
It will also help my gym schedule providing I can do two things. On the weeks I work 9am, I can be motivated to go in before work 2 days a week (although if I go after, it would be fine cause I wouldnt have to be back till 9am), and I can push myself to go on Saturday mornings. This will allow me to do MWF at 4pm SuTuTh early, SaMWF,SuTuTh... etc... Which would actually be giving me an extra day in there again instead of 3 days a week (if that recently). So Im excited for the change.
As for other new things I found, I realized AIM offers free local phone numbers with voicemail that shows up in your inbox. I set up my AIM mail account a while ago figuring it was free and I already had my screen name. I realized when looking for jobs that desmondsdoghouse.com may not be appropriate domain for some jobs I was looking at. With it came the same storage capacity as gmail (although Im sure thats changed by now) and I never looked further into it till today.
I signed up for the free local number and tried it out. You get a recorded message telling the caller theyve reached the mail box of 415-xxx-xxxx and to leave a message. You then receive an email with an mp3 attached which you can save to your hard drive. Funny thing is Ive been looking for a way to save my voice mails on my phone because some of them Id really love to email.
One of the biggest uses I can think of is if you have personal business cards that you constantly hand out, only to discover you didnt really want to give that person your number. This is a great way to screen the calls and you can always give them the other number after you figured out they arent a psycho.
Another use would be as a second option for people who dont really want to chat, they can leave you a message on that number and if you want to call them back you can. This saves *them* from actually having to talk on the phone. Think text messaging on this one.
Just one more quick thing and Im done. I walked into Walgreens today thinking maybe they had some Christmas candy on sale. Its all down and Valentines is up. Valentines in December? Ugh!!!!
Tonight Im going over to hang out with Throbbin. Finally some sanity (I think).
