Painful Night, New Job in the City
So yesterday was one of the most (if not *the* most) painful day of my life. My tooth that has been an issue for some time (which I've ignored for some time) started acting up again. It kept me down on Saturday which I appreciated because I wasn't looking to go out but yesterday, I could barely keep from crying from the pain. I had been taking ibuprophin to try and keep the pain at bay, but even after chewing on about 15 it still wasn't helping any.
I finally broke down and called my dentist, who's office was closed on Wednesday. He was in the middle of driving and asked me to call back in a half hour so I did. He was nice enough to call in a prescription for Vicoden and I was soon at the pharmacy seeking relief. Finally about 10:30 it kicked in as I drifted off to sleep and had one of the best nights sleep I've had in years.
This morning I woke and today was the day I started at the actual office. I wasn't sure what I would be walking into but was soon greeted with open arms and with much excitement. People really seemed happy I was there.
I have to say, I really am happy to be working in this part of the city. Although Folsom & 1st isn't exactly the Park Ave of San Francisco, it does have its charm and a few more places to eat and get coffee. Its also nice to be among the people dressed in business attire.
So I walked around at lunch and became familiar with the area. I grabbed a quick burrito at a cheap mexican place and called my dentists office to schedule an emergency visit at 9:30am Friday.
I also have business cards which is new to me. The title reads Insurance Coordinator. Wow a title even. I realize its nothing more than a biller who talks to patients but still its nice to see in print.
I didn't get too much done with the exception of getting my email set up, getting internet access (not everyone has it so I feel special), and a bit more experience with reading the system.
Tonight I'm on my way to an SF Flickr party. I'm meeting my friend Stephen and his friend TJ and really not sure what to expect. As for most people who read this know, I've been completely overwhelmed by flickr. I post all my photos there and tell everyone else to do the same.
After this Ill probably need a drink. I haven't celebrated being back to civilization yet and really need a cocktail.
We will see......
