Past Week
So last weekend was very good. I went on to gayme night with with several gay.com chatter at another chatter who lives up the road from me. He was a great host and fed us speghetti. I was a bit shy but realized I knew most of the people there. We had wine and played Celebrity which was a lot of fun.
Everyone adds 5 famous names, written down on a piece of paper, to a bowl. There are 2 teams. Each turn is 2 minutes per team and there are 3 rounds. First round, you need to talk out the celebrity while your team mates guess who it is. You get through as many as you can, and keep score on how many you got. The turn is passed back and forth until all the names are guessed.
Round 2 you can only use one word to describe the same celebrities. Once again it goes back and forth until all names are guessed.
Round 3 is charades. You have to act out the same celebrities and the turn goes back and forth until all celebrities are guessed. It was fun but I was home by 10:30.
It also hailed here Friday night which was cool. Actually had lightening which is unusual for San Francisco. It snowed Sunday night in some areas of the city but not on our Street.
Saturday I went with my friend Jay to SFMOMA to see the exhibit on the earthquake of 06. It was a great exhibit and for anyone who may have the opportunity to go, I highly recommend it. I was surprised that Kodak was mentioned many times for the fact that the brownie camera was just catching on. People were buying this box that was able to take pictures for postarity and the box did all the work. It was around the revolution of the camera and just in time to photograph the disaster.
I found more about how SF was rebuilt and learned a lot more about photography history. I never realized that panoramic's were dated back then and for arial shots, some guy from Chicago (I forget the name), used a HUGE camera that he hovered over SF which allowed him to get shots from 2000 feet above ground. The photos were the size of the negatives which had to be about 3 foot by 3 foot. Lots of interesting stuff.
Sunday of course was beer bust. Once again I had a great time. I finally talked to this guy Jerry along with a couple that Ive always been intimidated to talk to. They are known in the leather community here and I get very shy when I talk to guys who are well known. Either way I had a great time and was home around 6.
Tonight I finally found the link to the picture taken at the event I helped out with a few weeks ago at the powerhouse. Its a pic of Matt & me and I have to say, a much better pic of Matt than of me. It was nice to see my face on a website involving the San Francisco scene. Perhaps I should volunteer to help more often (once Im in shape lol)
Tonight I got the chance to talk on the phone with a guy Ive been messaging back and forth with. I ended up on the phone for about an hour and a half talking and it really felt cool to talk to someone for that long without actually getting bored with the conversation. He was pretty cool and hopefully we will hang out this weekend at some point.
As for work, its been going well. Ive been getting a lot of praise on a training manual Ive been working on and finally finished today. They seem really pleased and Im hoping perhaps I can steer my career along that path. Perhaps they will give me more tasks like this since they know I enjoy it and they are pleased with my work. Its nice to get recognized.
In other events, I think I mentioned I joined the gym. I had my first workout on Monday. I took yesterday off and today I felt more sore than Ive felt in a very long time. The past couple of nights Ive been so sore, Ive had trouble sleeping. I was going to go tonight just to stretch again but Jay cancelled and I ended up having coffee with a guy I used to chat with from Toronto who moved here about 6 months after I did. Its the first chance we've had to meet since either of us moved to SF. It went well and perhaps Ill have a new friend from it.
Other than all of that (yeah, my social life seems to be on the move), things have been ok. I realize every day that I can only live one day at a time and take each moment in stride.
